Medical School

Medicine is my passion. I discovered by love for medicine in high school with fascination for biology and metabolism. I pursued all of my education in my home state of West Virginia where I attended West Virginia University and became a two time graduate in 2023. My first degree was a BS in Biochemistry with a minor in Communication Studies. This was followed by an MD degree with a certificate for completion of the Culinary Medicine curriculum.

Medical school was one of the most anxiety-provoking yet exciting periods of my life. It was the phase of life where I grew the most as an aspiring physician and a young professional. It was stressful and busy, but there was nothing else I could see myself working so hard for. I am forever thankful to have been surrounded by amazing classmates who became my very best friends. And I was blessed with an incredible family that supported me from home. We made amazing memories to last a lifetime while remaining grounded and focused in studies.

On this page, you will find personal posts about how I handled it all. I also shared some experiences from my undergraduate degree and the opportunities I had as a Pre-Medical Student.

If you have any questions about what medical school is like or are looking for advice, submit a message to me below. I will try to reach back out as soon as possible!

BRAIN ON FIRE

Susannah Cahalan

This book was excellent! After just finishing my Neurobiology course, things made so much sense. The story is written by a New York Post journalist who is diagnosed with a rare disease known as NMDA receptor encephalitis. She talks about the disease itself, walks you through how it affected her brain, and talks about the setbacks for her physical and mental well-being. The book was hard to put down! This was my favorite read of the summer!

LOVE DOES

Bob Goff

This is just a feel good book! Bob Goff talks about his life experiences through childhood, adolescence, married life, and beyond. He puts a positive spin on all of the crazy opportunities that have lead him to become the person he is today. Throughout the book he reminds us that God works in mysterious ways. He found God working through the love and kindness of those he meets during different seasons of life as he reminisces on life experiences. This book had me laughing out loud and smiling through many chapters.

RUN FOR YOUR LIFE

Mark Cucuzzella, MD

This book was written by a Family Medicine doctor that I had the opportunity to meet in Martinsburg, WV. He is extremely passionate about health and wellness. In this book he talks about strategies for aging well, running better, and fueling your body with good nutrients. He had two interesting perspectives that I enjoyed reading about -- barefoot running and very low carbohydrate diets. The book gives tips and tricks to move more daily and alleviate pain without medication.
